This privacy and security policy statement concerns how Ecoplastile collects and uses your personal information in the framework of Ecoplastile Wastepays and other member companies.

1. About Ecoplastile & Wastepays System (EWS)

Ecoplastile is an Incentive based, infusion of recycling, technology & finance for independent businesses, waste collectors, and producers using a phone. Ecoplastile was founded in February 2020 to solve three major challenges inefficient waste and resource management systems, access to sustainable, affordable housing, and high rates of youth unemployment while creating opportunities for marginalized communities. Ecoplastile uses its proprietary technology to recycle all kinds of plastic waste (most of which were not recyclable) and construction debris to make timber-saving, polymer-engineered roofing tiles, which are 100% circular.

Wastepays uses technology to facilitate the recovery of recyclable waste in Africa by employing a decentralized collected model, that allows individuals/businesses to get rewards in direct cash or points redeemable into airtime, mobile money, pay bills commodity for giving off sorted waste, or hosting collection outlets and/or become independent collectors through our technology-enabled solutions (USSD, Mobile and Web App). The platform brings together the waste producers (individuals or businesses) waste collectors (mobile field agents- usually existing ones or interested new ones) and brands. Thus, we build independent material recovery businesses

This Privacy Policy is applicable to the Ecoplastile website and the Wastepays app.

2. Responsibility for Processing

Ecoplastile’s Chief Technical Officer/ Wastepays Operations Lead has the formal responsibility for the processing of your personal information.

3. Purpose of Processing

We will use your information for the following purposes:

• Register your corporate entity as a Wastepays user
• Send you information or important updates related to your activities on Wastepays
• Provide suggestions on potential Wastepays partners/suppliers based on your profile
• Send related news or updates from Ecoplastile

4. Which Data is Processed?

To use the Ecoplastile website and Wastepays app, you are required to provide your telephone number which may be registered under your name or email address, which may contain your first and last name, to proceed.

We process both personally identifiable information and non-personally identifiable information about you. Personally identifiable information is information that identifies you as an individual. Non-personally identifiable information is information and any other details that do not reveal your identity

5. Personal Information About Minors

Ecoplastile/Wastepays does not gather or process information about children under 13 years of age.

6. Legal Basis for Processing of Information

The legal basis for the processing of personal information is the consent that you have voluntarily given us when registering to use EWS

It is voluntary for those using EWS to provide personal information to register to become a registered member for full access to the EWS website and app. Unless otherwise specified, your consent or agreement to such processing is considered given when you provide the information.

You can withdraw and manage your consent at any time by contacting us. See contact information in the introduction to this declaration.

7. Access to the Information

To ensure that the processing of information is carried out in a safe manner, only specifically authorized persons at Ecoplastile will have access to the information you provide us. The number of employees with such approval is limited. Access to information is secured by access mechanisms.

We will not disclose, sell, distribute, rent, license, share, or pass details or personal information to any third parties other than those who deliver and are contracted to deliver services to us unless we have your express consent to do so.

8. Data Processors and Transfer of Data to Other Countries

Ecoplastile does not have any external data processors

Ecoplastile’s servers are currently located in Uganda. If you are not located in Uganda, we reserve the right to transmit information from the location where you have registered your e-mail address to our servers in Uganda.

If information is transferred within the AU, we will ensure that the AU directives on personal data in computing and country-specific data protection laws are followed. If we pass personal information to third parties located outside the AU, we will ensure that the transfer is by the AU Directive on personal data. If information is transmitted to the United States, we will preferably use Safe Harbor-certified companies.

9. Safeguarding of the Information

We have established rules and procedures for the protection of personal data and privacy.

When we treat "non personally identifiable information" combined with "personally identifiable information" (for example your name combined with geographical location) the collected information is treated as personally identifiable information.

We shall use all reasonable precautions to ensure that our employees who have access to information about you have adequate information to ensure that they treat such information by this statement and our obligations under privacy legislation.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to know how your personal information is processed by an enterprise.

You are entitled to access your information. If personal information is inaccurate, incomplete, or inaccessible, you can ask Ecoplastile to correct the information. See contact information in the introduction to this declaration.

We do not process and store information about you for longer than necessary for the intended purpose, or as required under existing agreements, and not beyond legal limits. We delete personal information when a user gives notice that he/she no longer wishes to use the service. For example, your email address used to send out updates from us is deleted when you unsubscribe. The same is done when we are notified of inactive email addresses.

11. Enforcement of This Privacy Policy Statement

Ecoplastile may use the information that we collect about you when we have reason to believe that it is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against persons or entities that may harm you, us, or others. We may also disclose your information when we believe it is required by law.

12. Consent, Governing Law, and Venue

This privacy statement applies to all users of our EWS website and app. We require that users agree to comply with the declaration as part of our relationship.

By registering and using the EWS website and app, you accept that your data may be processed by this privacy policy.

Ecoplastile operates from Uganda and is subject to Ugandan law. You agree that any disputes will be handled by the court in Kampala, by the laws of Uganda, unless otherwise dictated by mandatory local law.

13. Changes to the Declaration

Ecoplastile reserves the right to change or update the privacy statement. All changes are valid from the time of being posted and will include information gathered from that date, as well as existing information held by Ecoplastile.
